Trade Signs represent early advertising and became one way of achieving recognition. The art of the tinsmith is dying out. It requires a skilled craftsman to fashion 'tole' - the art of painting tin. All trade signs are three dimensional, allowing for display parallel or perpendicular to a wall, or to be hung free in space
